My love for Zandvoort

After having lived in Barcelona and Amsterdam for years, I moved to Zandvoort a couple of years ago - a move that I made for love, but actually found quite difficult. However, I grew to like Zandvoort so much that I even started a blog about it: “Love from Zandvoort, my love for Zandvoort.”

In my blog, I cover all the great beach bars, shops, coffee shops, parties and events and the stories behind them; however, I mainly focus on sustainable initiatives and a healthy beach lifestyle.

Zandvoort never bores me, and I would like to share a few of my best tips with you in the hope that you will enjoy Zandvoort as much as I do!

Love from Zandvoort,

X Kristel Veerman

Blue Zone Espresso

I always get my coffee from Blue Zone Espresso in the centre of Zandvoort. The owners are from New Zealand and they really seem to know their coffee in that country. They make the tastiest cups of coffee from their own roast.

Try their delicious “New Zealand style” breakfast or homemade cakes.

Nalu Surf & Skate Shop

Before you go to the beach, you really must stop by Nalu. Here you can get everything you need for a sustainable beach and surf lifestyle; from natural sunscreen - good for you and the sea - to beach towels, flip-flops, surfboards and beachwear.

The Spot Sup & Surf

Whatever the weather, there’s always something to do in the sea. Surf’s up? Then you can learn wave surfing. Calm sea? Give stand up paddle boarding (SUP) a try.

Top tip: rent a board just before the sun goes down and enjoy a romantic sunset SUP.

Yoga on the shore

There are a few beautiful yoga studios in Zandvoort, including a “hot yoga studio”. You can book individual lessons here. During the beach season you can follow a yoga class at many beach clubs.

For example, Zenzo Yoga gives beach yoga every Wednesday and Friday morning at beach club Tent 6.

Bodhi Beach

There are a few very laidback beach bars on Zandvoort’s Zuidstrand (South Beach) which can only be reached on foot or by bike.

Bodhi beach is my favorite. It’s a perfect “hidden gem” for a wonderful day on the beach with a laidback vibe and delicious food.
