A day in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park

The beautiful Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is located between Zandvoort and IJmuiden. It is an area with beaches, wild dunes, grasslands, dune lakes and beautiful country estates and is home to countless species of animals. This area of outstanding natural beauty is also a walker’s paradise.

Special discoveries

Amsterdam was a successful city in the Golden Age. But success brought pollution. Wealthy Amsterdam merchants invested in luxurious country houses to escape the dirty city.

A number of these beautiful country houses and their beautiful gardens can still be found in this National Park.

Wandering in the wandering dunes

The beautiful Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is located between Zandvoort and IJmuiden. It is an area with beaches, wild dunes, grasslands, dune lakes and beautiful country estates and is home to countless species of animals.

This area of outstanding natural beauty is also a walker’s paradise. A large number of birds and birds of prey breed in this park. Almost half of all birds in the Netherlands are found here.

Visitor Centre

Visitor centre “De Kennemerduinen” is located on the Zeeweg on the way to Bloemendaal aan Zee. It is the main entrance of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland and it is where you’ll find the information desk, an exhibition and the Duincafé with its organic menu and a sunny terrace.

Other attractions include a water playground. There are numerous entrances to the park. Hiking and cycling is permitted on the indicated paths. The park is free of charge and is open every day between sunrise and sunset.
